From Struggle to Success: How ‘This Moment’ by Katy Perry Inspires Graduates

Reflecting on the journey that led us to “This Moment”.  So thankful for my daughter’s determination and hard work.

I have attended the most meaningful graduation ceremony in my entire life for two reasons: it was my youngest daughter’s college graduation and Katy Perry’s song “This Moment”.

Hearing the song for the first time while watching my daughter danced, I was overwhelmed with pride and emotion as I thought about all the hard work and sacrifice that went into achieving this momentous accomplishment.

And as the song is played in the background, I couldn’t help but reflect on the lyrics and how they relate to the journey that brought us to this point.

The song begins with the lines, “Can you tell me who called a race?/Can anyone stay in one place?” These words speak to the feeling of being on a never-ending journey, where success seems always just out of reach.

For graduates, this journey may have involved years of study, countless all-nighters, and significant financial sacrifice. But despite the challenges, they pushed forward, kept moving, and ultimately achieved their goals.

As the song progresses, Perry sings, “I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life/Now all my dreams are coming true, yeah.” These lines capture the feeling of achieving a long-awaited goal and the joy that comes with finally reaching it.

For my daughter and the rest of the graduates, this moment is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.

But the song’s message doesn’t end there. Perry goes on to say, “I’m so thankful for this moment/And now I’m gonna celebrate.” These words speak about the importance of taking the time to savor “the moment” and to recognize the achievements that have been made.

As graduates move on to the next stage of their lives, it’s essential that they take a moment to appreciate what they’ve accomplished and to celebrate their success.

 “This Moment” by Katy Perry is a powerful anthem for graduates. Its lyrics is a tribute to one’s struggle and sacrifice that goes into achieving a goal, the joy of finally reaching that goal, and the importance of taking a moment to appreciate and celebrate success.

As my daughter walked across the stage to receive her diploma, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the song’s message and the journey that led us to this moment. And for all the graduates out there, I hope this song serves as a reminder of the incredible things that can be accomplished with hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
