Hiring a bookkeeper or an accountant to process your tax compliance is expensive, especially if the transactions involve just the basic filing and paying of taxes. Many business owners learn the process by themselves.
All you need to have is a copy of the list of BIR tax deadlines 2021 and keep track of the schedule. Knowing the payment and filing cut-off will save you the trouble of paying penalties and surcharges.
BIR Tax Deadlines 2021
1. Renewal of Business Registration
BIR Form: 0605
Title: Payment Form
Deadline: every January 31 of the succeeding year (annual)
* Taxpayer shall use this form for annual business registration
2. Withholding Tax on Compensation
2.1. BIR Form: 1601Cv2018
Title: Monthly Remittance Return of Income Taxes Withheld on Compensation
Deadline: on or before 10th of the following month (monthly)
2.2. BIR Form: 1604CF
Title: Annual Information Return of Income Taxes Withheld on Compensation
Deadline of Payment: on or before January 31 of the succeeding year, with Alphalist of Employees (annual)
* To be filed by a taxpayer who is required to deduct and withhold taxes on compensation paid to their employees
2.3. BIR Form: 2316
Title: Certificate of Compensation Payment/Tax Withheld
Deadline: February 28 of the succeeding year (annual)
* To be accomplished by the employers for every employee receiving salaries and other benefits
3. Value-Added Tax (VAT) Withheld
BIR Form: 1600
Title: Monthly Remittance Return of Value-added Tax Withheld
Deadline: on or before 10th of the following month with MAP Alphalist of Payees (monthly)
*To be filed by taxpayers with VAT transactions
4. Creditable Income Tax Withheld – Expanded
4.1. BIR Form: 0619E
Title: Monthly Remittance Form for Creditable Income Tax Withheld (Expanded)
Deadline: on or before 10th of the following month (monthly)
4.2. BIR Form: 1601EQ
Title: Quarterly Remittance Return of Creditable Income Tax Withheld (Expanded)
Deadline of Payment: on or before the last day of the month following the close of the taxable quarter (quarterly)
4.3. BIR Form: 1604E
Title: Annual Information Return of Creditable Income Tax Withheld
Deadline of Payment: on or before March 1 of the succeeding year (annual)
* To be filed by withholding tax agents who withhold taxes on income payments subject to Expanded/Creditable Withholding Taxes
5. Final Income Tax Withheld
5.1. BIR Form: 1601FQ
Title: Quarterly Remittance Return of Final Income Tax Withheld
Deadline of Payment: on or before the last day of the month following the close of the taxable quarter, with Alphalist of payees (quarterly)
5.2. BIR Form: 0619F
Title: Monthly Remittance Form for Final Income Tax Withheld
Deadline: on or before 10th of the following month (monthly)
6. VAT/Percentage Tax
6.1. Non-VAT Taxpayers
BIR Form: 2551Qv2018
Title: Quarterly Percentage Tax Return
Deadline: on or before the 25th of the month following the close of the taxable quarter (quarterly)
Note: If your received BIR Form 2306 (Certificate of Final Taxes Withheld at Source), prepare Summary Alphalist of Withholding Tax at Source (SAWT)
6.2. VAT Taxpayers
6.2.1. BIR Form: 2550M
Title: Monthly Value-Added Tax Declaration
Deadline: on or before 20th of the following month (monthly)
6.2.2. BIR Form: 2550Q
Title: Quarterly Value-Added Tax Return
Deadline: on or before 25th of the following taxable quarter (quarterly)
Note: If you received BIR Form 2307 (Certificate of Final Taxes Withheld at Source), make SAWT
7. Income Tax
7.1. Taxpayers with Calendar Accounting Cycle
7.1.1. BIR Form: 1701Qv2018
Title: Quarterly Income Tax Return for Self-Employed Individuals, Estate and Trust
Deadline:
1st quarter: on or before May 15
2nd quarter: on or before August 15
3rd quarter: on or before November 15
4th quarter: annualized* – declare your annual income on or before April 15 of the following year
* Taxpayers with mixed-income and itemized deduction : BIR Form 1701v2018
* Taxpayers with one type of income and 40% optional standard deduction (OSD) or 8% income tax option: BIR Form 1701A
7.1.2. BIR Form: 1702Q
Title: Quarterly Income Tax Return For Corporations, Partnerships, and Other Non-Individual Taxpayers
Deadline:
1st Quarter: May 30
2nd Quarter: August 29
3rd Quarter: November 29
4th quarter: annualized* – declare your annual income, using BIR Form 1702 and pay on or before April 15 of the succeeding year
7.2. Taxpayers with Fiscal Year Accounting Cycle

- Quarterly returns must be filed and paid within 60 days after the close of the taxable quarter.

- Annualized return must be processed and paid on or before the 15th day of the 4th month succeeding taxable year

Refer to your BIR Form 2303 (Certificate of Registration) to know what taxes to process and pay. The taxes required for your business are listed in the lower bottom portion of the certificate.

Processing and paying our taxes are not that complicated after all. Knowing the BIR Forms and filing and payment deadlines will avoid excessive penalties and surcharges.
